FAQs Psychology Sunshine Coast

psychology Sunshine Coast FAQ (frequently asked questions)

Have you got questions about psychology Sunshine Coast?  Read on below to find the answers to many common questions…

How much does psychology Sunshine Coast cost?

Our understanding is that there are no psychology Sunshine Coast practices that don’t have an out of pocket fee.  This is because Medicare only cover $101.55 of a session.  However, the Australian Psychological Society’s recommended rate is $ 330 for a 46-60 minute counselling appointment.

With Brad’s extensive psychology experience and results-focussed approach, we have set our current rates as follow:

  • Standard psychology consultation or life coaching – $260/50-minute session
  • Couple’s counselling (minimum 1.5 hours) – $400/80-minute session
  • Concessional discounted therapy – $210/50-minute session

Many of our clients attend counselling through our Maroochydore psychology practice only when they are experiencing a challenge.  They use the service to manage their stressful event, increase their coping skills and get back on track.

We also have several clients who attend sessions regularly with Brad in a more life coaching or mentoring capacity.  These clients use the psychology Sunshine Coast sessions to stay on track and take their mental skills to the next level.

Can I get a Medicare Rebate for my Psychology Sunshine Coast Appointment?

Yes, we have the facilities on-site to process your Medicare rebate ($101.55) on the day of your appointment. The rebate is normally processed back into your account instantly.  If it doesn’t register straight away, it will be back in your account within 24 to 48 hours.

Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?

No. You don’t need a referral to access psychology Sunshine Coast with Brad Everton. However, many people are referred by:

  • their GP
  • a psychiatrist
  • friends recognising a valuable service that could be useful to somebody else, or
  • their marriage celebrants (for pre-marital counselling)

If you feel that you need support and want to achieve better results, a life coach can be a great idea. However, a particular benefit of seeing a solution-focused psychologist is the extensive study and experience they bring.  This is particularly true of a psychologist who has extensive experience from working in the field for a long time.

Although you don’t need a referral to see a psychologist, there are benefits to having a referral from your GP or psychiatrist.  If you get a mental health care plan, you can access the Medicare rebate. This means you’re able to get a portion of the psychology fee back. So, you’re accessing the services at a reduced rate.

Plus, your rebate increases to 80% once you hit your Medicare Safety Net limit! Simply ask your GP or psychiatrist when you speak with them next time.

Do you offer phone counselling and virtual psychology appointments?

Since COVID, phone, online, and video counselling have become more popular. However, as a psychologist, Brad has been providing these services since first opening his private psychology clinic in 2011. So, Brad has been chatting to people around the world, from all walks of life and across different industries, for years.

Nowadays, there are so many options available.  It’s not just face-to-face counselling. Of course, some people prefer face-to-face counselling.  However, many who had not considered phone or online counselling before, who have tried it, have found it extremely beneficial and convenient.  All it takes is a therapist who is skilled in building rapport virtually.

The benefit to the client is that you can be in an environment that suits you.  Whether that is at home or sitting in a private place, anywhere around the world.

When chatting to clients, we can almost duplicate the face-to-face counselling sessions using video technology. For example, we have clients who have gone overseas and wanted to continue with their sessions.  And the telehealth counselling provides a seamless transition.

The great news is… Medicare now recognises virtual forms of psychology.  So, we can still process your rebate if you have a current GP Mental Health Care Plan.

Do you provide marriage counselling Sunshine Coast?

Yes, we provide couple’s therapy. Brad enjoys helping couples communicate better and more easily. He strives to ensure both parties are on the same page before they leave each session. And whether the focus is building your best relationship together or parting peacefully, Brad does his best to facilitate the counselling process as smoothly as possible.

Do you provide family therapy Sunshine Coast?

Yes. As a matter of fact, one of the areas we are most passionate about at Synergy Mind Solutions is helping families develop strong and healthy relationships. Brad even published a book called: On Track Parenting – The Missing Manual That Should Have Come With Your Child.

We called it this because we jam-packed as many of the tools, tips and strategies in specifically to help parents on their journey.  To be a great parent, you need to stay mentally strong, calm and peaceful while facing the most challenging role any person can face in life. All the tools in the book came from what has worked with clients during Brad’s 25 years of counselling.
