Brad Everton- Principal Psychologist
Prior to becoming a psychologist, I occupied various roles in different industries which I believe has given me greater insight as an EAP counsellor. As a psychologist I have worked in several sectors including the provision of counselling for mental health issues, career counselling and transition to students and staff at a tertiary institution. I have run career preparation workshops for graduating students. I have counselled elite athletes preparing for the Olympic Games and World Championships. I have developed and facilitated anger management programs for teenagers and worked with people with disabilities. I have also developed a life skills program for people dealing with hardship and ran it through the local community centre as a government-funded project.
I have also held management positions with the most notable managing a team of 42 collegiate staff at a university and being accountable for 400 university students living on-campus.
Over the last 9 years I have managed my private practice. During this time I have provided personal and workplace counselling to individuals and corporations. I have provided services to EAP organizations, General Practitioners, Work Cover and private clients. These types of services include face to face counselling, telephone counselling, on site counselling and executive coaching/support to managers. I have also been sought out to assist large organizations who are undergoing restructures and closure.

The benefit of telephone counselling is the service can be provided to people all around the country. With the telephone counselling I can often provide after hour telephone counselling to people in other states that prefer to make appointments after work.
Face to Face Counselling
Our private practice has been open on the Sunshine Coast for the last 3 years. The counselling office has a positive, light and airy outlook into the National Forest and allows clients to feel calm and relaxed while they are here.
For complex issues that require sensitive and immediate attention.
When the situation calls for a counsellor to be onsite for group or one-on-one service. Some examples include announcement or redundancies, ongoing maintenance leading up to and including organisational closure, major media releases that impact staff morale and uncertainty, suicide, etc.
Manager Support/Executive Coaching
Providing the tools and strategies that should be taught and mentored but aren’t that have been gathered from continuous training, multiple courses, management experience while at the University of Southern Queensland and providing support and coaching to managers and executives through EAP.
Chet Holmes said, “If you don’t train, you force everyone to be reactive, so your chances for survival decrease dramatically”. I train daily for at least two hours a day to ensure that the training I provide to clients and organisations is current, useful and effective. Workshops focus on performance enhancement and can be tailored to the needs of the organisation.
